A jaunt over to wikipedia informs me that persimmons come from the ‘Diospyros’ tree. They are literally, apparently, the fruit of the Gods. While my personal ambrosia at the minute is more likely Sainsbury’s finest dry cider, I have nothing but respect for, and interest in, said persimmons.
